If you're as interested in a company's ethics as its product, you'll want to check out popup campers, travel trailers and motorhomes made by the Jayco Company. This family-owned company operates by "The Golden Rule" and sets high standards for environmentalism. In fact, the company has won the Indiana Governor's "Award for Excellence" in recycling and consistently looks for new ways to ensure customer satisfaction. In the process, Jayco has become one of the largest manufacturers of tent trailers and other RVs in North America. Not too shabby for a company that was born in a barn.

In 1968, the late Lloyd J. Bontrager believed he could build a better RV. Working out of his barn and chicken house, located on his farm in the heart of Indiana Amish country, he built a prototype camping trailer. He patented the lifter design, and by the end of 1968 had sold 132 of the tent trailers. Jayco was on its way.

Today, the Jayco Company remains family owned. Bontrager's widow and three children manage the company's day-to-day business. This hands-on approach enables the family to produce high-quality popups, fifth wheel trailers, class C motor homes and toy haulers, all of which are made in the U.S.A. You can even tour their Middlebury, Indiana, factory.

If you're a camping enthusiast looking for a corporation that shares your ideals, why not give Jayco a look? Their reputation for quality and corporate responsibility make them a well-rounded choice for consumers who base their buying decisions on more than just price.
