Thor Industries is the mega-conglomerate of the RV industry. The company was formed in 1980 when two entrepreneurs, Wade F. B. Thompson and Peter B. Orthwein, acquired Airstream, which had been languishing in the downturn of the RV industry that occurred in the late 1970s. After first returning Airstream to profitability, Thompson and Orthwein turned their attention to acquiring other RV manufacturers in order to create one of the largest and most successful recreational vehicle companies in the world.

Thor manufactures some of the best-known brands of class a, class b & class c motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, popup campers and toy haulers on the market, including Dutchmen, Komfort and Skamper. Throughout its operation, the company focuses on two core values: quality and variety.
